TMV Interview with Eric Garland, CEO – Big Champagne

Eric Garland, CEO - Big ChampagneTMV were lucky enough to catch up with Eric at The Great Escape in May. In this interview Eric states that file sharing has changed the way people consume music and the number of illegally downloaded songs exceeds 1 billion per month. He goes on to note that the long tail is not generating the money people had expected it to. Most of the illegally traded songs are the top hits. File sharing moving from the visible to the invisible (for example darknets) should be seen as more of a threat than traditional file sharing as we cannot track the files. Eric notes that the “internet leaks like a sieve” alluding to the fact we cannot do anything about that.
