Senior Vice President, Animation-Development – MTV Networks LA
Job Description
Nickelodeon Animation Studios is currently conducting a search for a Senior Vice President of Development. This key role will be responsible for all aspects of development of animation properties from concept to pilot, including all creative and production matters. This position reports to the President of Animation, Nickelodeon.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Solicit, pitch and evaluate show idea submissions.
Work closely with various departments within the network and with outside production companies.
Take meetings with producers, agents, production company reps and talent – both in general to cultivate relationships and to take specific pitches.
Research and develop show ideas that originate from both internal sources and acquired pitches.
Must have current awareness of new talent and pop culture.
Oversee show production from pilot development through series post-production. Includes script, creative, legal, casting, staffing and production supervision.
Coordinate show support with department reps within the network, including Publicity, Online, Marketing, Standards, Business Affairs, Promos, Research, Graphics, Affiliate Relations and Sales.
Delegate duties and include in projects & meetings as appropriate.
Desired Skills & Experience
B.A. Degree in Radio, Television and Film, or related subject
7 to 10 years minimum experience leading television production and/or development in the animation space
High level experience with scripted based shows in animation
Proven knowledge of television, music, pop-culture, youth pop-culture and emerging trends from the past to the present
Proven understanding of the Nickelodeon brand, programming and the ability both to execute it, expand upon it with the highest quality and standards
Proven ability to identify unique ideas and talent before it ‘bubbles up’ to broader public awareness and able to translate that into winning/successful programming
Must have a strong knowledge of, and relationships with, key players in the production industry, including emerging talent, agents, production companies, producers, writers, etc.
Must have strong written and oral communication skills
Strong ability to show initiative and multi-task in a fast paced, high-volume environment
Portable relationships with writers in all scripted genres
Demonstrated interpersonal and diplomatic skills, including the ability to work successfully within a collaborative team environment.
Must have strong organizational skills
Must have strong business and personal ethics
