VP Sales – Universal Music Group Distribution, CA


Job Summary:
VP, Sales will lead, develop, and manage overall sales initiatives for UMD to achieve sales and marketing goals across all label groups (owned and associated) and assigned account teams, with special emphasis on leveraging digital opportunities in merchandising, marketing, promotions, and all activities across all accounts. Additional responsibilities will include involvement with physical product, new business opportunities, and supporting opportunities for specialty areas.

Job Functions:
• Manage assigned account teams
o Increase revenues and maximize opportunities
o Build and maintain excellent relationships and act as home office executive escalator
o Strategize and manage promotional, merchandising, positioning and placement opportunities
• Create and maximize opportunities to expose all products digitally
o Communicate digital account trends, successes, opportunities, best practices to labels focused on account growth
o Leverage best practices and new ideas for digital marketing and merchandising opportunities across all account teams
o Act as digital expert at UMD and UMGD
• Support specialty areas with digital promotional opportunities (Catalog, Latin, Adult, Classical)
• Manage digital operations and process
o Conduit for digital operational processes working with UML Digital Operations group
o Create efficiency in operations, processes, and communications
o Create and communicate best practices for operations and process across all account teams
• Liaise with UMG Digital Global Business to ensure solid understanding of account contracts and help troubleshoot problems

• Strong hands-on and management experience with digital accounts (online, mobile, subscriptions), at least 6 years
• Strong business acumen and results-oriented
• Sales and budgeting experience and knowledge
• Proven leadership and management experience and success
• Ability to operate in a highly collaborative manner and work in pressure situations
• Excellent negotiating and people skills
• Polished presentation skills
• Excellent communication and relationship skills with all levels of executives and management
• Proven experience in crafting and delivering executive-level presentations using various media
• Solid understanding of P&L’s
• General knowledge and experience with industry information systems (SoundScan, etc.)
• Proven knowledge of sales and marketing strategies and concepts
