VP Of IP Licensing, ROVI (San Francisco)
Rovi seeks a dynamic and experienced IP Licensing leader to partner with the Intellectual Property and Licensing team to develop, execute on and commercialize Rovi’s extensive digital entertainment patent portfolio. You must have a deep understanding of patent law and strategy with proven track record of closing deals. You will assist in developing strategies for patent licensing, including: identifying potential licensees, deal structuring, and license scope. You will be responsible for negotiating and finalizing licensing deals encompassing all aspects of Rovi’s patent portfolio. As a member of Rovi’s Intellectual Property & Licensing team, you must be a strong functional leader who is also an outstanding team player and prefers to work collaboratively.
Rovi has an extensive technology and intellectual property licensing business related to all aspects of digital entertainment, including interactive program guides, advanced advertising, and TV everywhere technology. As a key member of the Intellectual Property & Licensing team, you will help educate new team members on all aspects of our portfolio coverage and the competitive landscape. Working with the senior management of the company, this position will be responsible for developing and implementing strategies to commercialize its intellectual property assets with consumer electronics manufacturers, service providers and other companies.

This position reports directly to the Company’s WW Senior Vice President of IP & Licensing.
Desired Skills & Experience
Minimum of 12 years of licensing experience with a demonstrated track record of successfully concluding license agreements.
Strong understanding of patents and patent processes, along with the ability to engage in substantive discussions with third parties (including licensee’s patent counsel) about such issues during the course of negotiations.
Ability to present the relevance of the Company’s patent portfolio from a commercial and technical perspective.
Ability to clearly articulate market licensing value propositions.
Demonstrated success of closing deals through creation and use of proof packs.
Strong business, negotiation and communication skills required.
Experience with international business and licensing negotiations preferred.
Strong project and process management experience.
Proven track record of rapidly building and assimilating teams to form proactive and revenue generating organizations.
