Vice President of Communications – Pandora (San Fran)
Job Description
We are seeking candidates with extensive public relations experience, with a particular focus on consumer brands/services. This person would develop and implement a comprehensive public relations strategy, incorporating the objectives of all functions in the company – consumer, technology, business development and advertising sales. We are looking for individuals who have excellent written/verbal skills, are great team players, and have experience managing multi-pronged PR efforts.
As the primary public relations contact for the company, the Vice President of Communications reports to the Chief Marketing Officer.
Responsibilities:
Develop and drive a comprehensive communications and media relations program, incorporating the objectives of Pandora’s consumer, business development and advertising functions.
Develop and manage the company’s corporate reputation initiatives.
Manage and drive grassroots marketing efforts, including town hall meetings and assorted Pandora listener events.
Develop and manage communications plans for Pandora, ensuring effective execution carried out in conjunction with external PR agencies.
Spearhead media and industry analyst outreach.
Manage corporate announcement process, including writing and editing releases; overseeing internal and partner approval; handling distribution over domestic and international news wire services; and working with Pandora’s product team to ensure timely release posting.
Cultivate and manage speaking opportunities for all staff.
Manage onsite media events – interviews, film shoots, photo ops, etc
Desired Skills & Experience
15+ years of public relations experience (agency and in-house), including proven expertise in driving successful corporate communications, public relations, media relations and corporate reputation programs.
Minimum of 10 years in a senior communications role.
In-house experience at a technology-based consumer product organization.
Strong background in tactical implementation of grassroots marketing efforts.
Exceptional ability to represent the company’s passion, purpose and people to media and other external constituencies is a must.
Ability to collect and synthesize information, while inspiring teams and obtaining buy-in from executives and department managers.
Experience managing multiple projects, in a fast-paced, high volume environment.
Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
Scrappy, game for any task, and able to adapt to change.
