VP of Engineering (LAMP Cloud Infrastructure Development)
Desired Skills & Experience
As our ideal candidate, you have a strong computer science background and education, and likely 15+ years of experience shipping high profile consumer Internet products and services. You are a strong software technologist in your own right, and while you may no longer code you were a top-notch software engineer earlier in your career, and can hold your own and provide technical insights in discussions with engineers and direct reports.
Your experience includes recent LAMP cloud platform architectures and expertise in backend infrastructure development (storage, scalability, reliability, uptime, etc.). It is a plus if you have also managed front-end mobile or web consumer applications/UI development.
You have scaled name brand, high-volume 24X7 consumer cloud services, and have proven best practices in your tool kit for optimum scalability, reliability and performance. You understand what network/cloud operations needs from development and are keen to provide it. You bring well-honed development processes that have produced quality web-based consumer products and services on-time and on-budget, and are disciplined about setting realistic development schedules and meeting them.
You are a talent magnet with a following of great engineers and managers, and have successfully ramped up software engineering teams with aggressive hiring goals without compromising quality. You are comfortable walking in and dealing with first level engineering management issues as you quickly triple your team to 75+ including 1st- and 2nd-level managers, directors and architects.
You naturally mentor and develop your team to take their skills and careers to new levels. You are demanding, but fair and are oriented around doing what is right for the product, company and team. Your team respects you as a technology leader and manager, and would welcome the opportunity to work with you again. As our ideal candidate, you are also a digital music consumer and lover, and may have ideas of your own about great music services and web/mobile UXs.
