INFOGRAPHIC: How Much Do Artists Earn Online 2012
Great information here folks. This is an update from the same people who brought you the 2010 version. This infographic details what an artist gets money wise form iTunes, all the key al-la-carte and streaming music services. Intrestingly, the amount of streams a DIY artist requires on Spotify to earn the minimum United States wage of $1160 per month has come down from the last time such an analysis was undertaken in 2010. However, it is still a pretty unsurmountable number in terms of DIY artist’s ever achieving…enjoy folks and please do leave your thoughts/comments below!

Hi Jakomi..thanks so much for doing research and shedding light on this subject. Every time I perform, people love what I do..but i have not been able to take my career as a musician off the ground or make sustainable income from it. Sometimes it feels almost impossible to know how to really approach being a musicians/artist in a culture that doesn’t value it the same way I do. Is there a blog or other places I can also use as a resource with others who might feel the same way? It might help me navigate thru wanting to do what I love to live vs. having to find somthing else I am good at and doing that instead?
