Exclusive Interview: Richard Cohen, CEO LoveLive Part 1 (VIDEO): Framework Agreements & Rights Clearance
TMV’s Laura Thorne interviews Richard Cohen, CEO of London-based LoveLive, a music content developer and strategic service provider working with artists, labels and brands.
Prior to forming LoveLive in 2008, Cohen was on the board and Entertainment Managing Director at sports media company Perform Group, and previously held senior positions at Framestore CFC and Image.Net (subsequently acquired by Getty Images). Cohen partnered with Rockfeedback’s Tim Dellow and Toby Langley in 2009 (interviewed here in TMV last month), and together they have built a substantive reputation as connoisseurs of content and indie cool. (LoveLive’s management team also includes David Mansfield, former Chairman of RAJAR and CEO, Capital Radio, and Andy Heath, Managing Director of Beggars Group and Chairman UK Music.) However, what’s much more intriguing to TMV is their ability to create new revenue opportunities for music that benefit artists and other rights holders, a success story we’d like to hear more about!
LoveLive’s model includes establishing Framework Agreements and making rights-cleared music video content available for license, as we discuss with Richard in part one of a two-part interview.
