As we are a business focused blog it is also important to provide information on live music showcase events as it is the signing of artists which makes our business tick! So this section of The Music Void will outline the key music showcase events on a global basis.

January 13 – 16th, Eurosonic: Groningen Netherlands
EuroSonic Noorderslag is Europe’s biggest and most important live music industry conference and showcase festival, taking place from 13th – 16th January 2010 in Groningen, The Netherlands. October 9 – 10th, New Noise: Santa Barbra USA
The New Noise Conference will host educational panels on the music industry’s hottest topics, present esteemed experts from all walks of the business, and serve as a place for players big and small to connect and plot the future of sound. New Noise will attract a steady stream of devoted music lovers as well as fans, artists, up-and-coming entrepreneurs, and already successful business people from around the country. September 9 – 11th, BIG SOUND: Brisbane Australia
BIG SOUND is one of the most respected and fastest growing music business events in the Asia Pacific region. Musexpo Europe
June 29th – July 3rd 2009 – London
AnR Worldwides 2nd ever European instalment of the Musexpo event, this year is set to be a good one, taking place at The Cumberland. With the focus being much more on the conference side, numerous big name speakers are in attendance. TMV will be there!

Liverpool Sound City
May 20th – 23rd 2009
This is the UK’s premier city centre music industry festival and conference. Taking place by day in the splendour of the Hard Days Night Hotel and at night in 32 venues around Liverpool with over 400 acts, the focus for 2009 is on the new svengalis, mavericks, dream-makers and shapers of tomorrow, including radical new conference ‘The Trial’, which will be staged in the splendid setting of a real Victorian Law Court. The Great Escape
May 14th – 16th 2009
The TMVs second trip to TGE, with 300 bands across 34 venues, with the conference side of things based in a single venue this year, The Thistle Hotel on the sea front. The key-note speaker, Daniel Ek, founder of streaming service-du-jour, looks to be something of a highlight this year.

Canadian Music Week (CMW)
March 12 – 14th Toronto Canada
Jakomi from TMV will be attending Canadian Music Week (CMW) for the 4th time. According to him the conference side of the event is one og the best run he has been too. CMW has been running longer than SXSW and the talent is amazing. 40 venues 500 bands over 4 nights. Just Awesome. This time round TMV will also be chairing a panel entitled Can Artists Afford To Give Away Their Music For Free?

The panel will focus on what new models there are out there for new up and coming artists to utilise to build there careers. To much focus has been placed on established artists leaving there major labels and experimenting with there own models. But at least they had the benefit of massive major label marketing budgets to build their audience. Yet what is there for the new unestablished artist? MUSEXPO Europe 2008 London
October 27th – October 29th
Take advantage of the opportunity to showcase your band in front of an exclusive group of high-level international music and media professionals. This group will include label presidents, A&R and publishing executives, programmers from the worlds most influential and artist-friendly radio stations, film/TV and interactive gaming music supervisors, brand executives, talent bookers/promoters as well as press and new media executives.

I’ve attended two of these AnRworldwide events in Los Angeles and they are the Creme de la Creme of music showcase events. If you want your music to be showcased to the worlds key AnR executives then this event is a must do.
